Oil palm, the highest oil yielding crop has been introduced in India to bridge the gap between demand and supply of edible oils. Site suitability plays a crucial role in determining oil palm productivity. Presently, site suitability in oil palm is decided by feasibility studies through soil physico-chemical parameters of the area, which requires lots of resources yet recommendations are possible only at Mandal/Taluk level. This OPSSE helps in taking appropriate decisions at individual farm level for cultivation of oil palm under rainfed / irrigated conditions to help policy makers, officials of state departments of agriculture and horticulture, oil palm processors, farmers and researchers to evaluate the site suitability at individual farm level for cultivation of oil palm.
